Capital Campaign

In 2021 The Belmont Chapel Foundation embarked on a project to fully restore the historic Belmont Chapel. The total cost of the restoration is expected to be approximately $2.5 million. The Foundation launched a Capital Campaign to fully fund this expense. The Foundation was fortunate to receive a $600K grant from the Alletta Morris McBean Charitable Trust to fund Phase I of the overall project that will proceed in 3 phases over the next several years.

  • Phase 1, the slate roof restoration, and includes interior framing and supporting masonry repair and complete repointing and cleaning of the exterior.
  • Phase 2 will focus on the restoration of the stained glass windows and the replastering of interior walls, rebuilding of the entrance doors and the ornamental woodwork in the chancel, and the replacement of the missing section of the tile floor.
  • Phase 3 will include repainting of the interior walls, restoration of the pews, lighting design and implementation, installation of audio visual equipment, and additional seating for events.

The Foundation has raised a further $210K in gift, grants, and pledges since beginning the campaign.
