CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Anchor 1

In 2021 The Belmont Chapel Foundation embarked on a project to fully restore the historic Belmont Chapel. The total cost of the restoration is expected to be approximately $2.5 million. The Foundation began a capital campaign in 2021 with a goal of completing the restoration and establishing an endowment fund to ensure sustainability of the building over the long run. The Foundation received major grant awards from the Alletta McBean Charitable Trust, Preserve RI/1772, van Beuren Charitable Trust, and the Champlin Foundation to fund Phases I and II of the project. Donate to the Capital Campaign to meet our goals of returning the chapel to its original beauty and establishing an endowment total of $500,000.

Phase 1: The slate roof restoration, and includes interior framing and supporting masonry repair, complete repointing and cleaning of the exterior, and fortifying the basement infrastructure.

Phase 2: Focusing on the restoration of the stained glass windows and the replastering of interior walls, rebuilding of the entrance doors and the ornamental woodwork in the chancel, and the replacement of the missing section of the tile floor.

Phase 3: Includes repainting of the interior walls, restoration of the pews, lighting design and implementation, installation of audio visual equipment, and additional seating for events.

The Foundation has raised $2M in gift, grants, and pledges since beginning the campaign.
