THE MISSION

Recognizing that the August Belmont Memorial Chapel is an architecturally and historically significant building, and is part of the social history of Newport, the founding members of the Belmont Chapel Foundation felt compelled to step forward as advocates on its behalf.Ultimately the Foundation wants to see the chapel become an asset to the local community, serving both as a reminder of its original purpose and as a location for learning and exploration for present and future generations.

THE CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
In 2021 The Belmont Chapel Foundation embarked on a project to fully restore the historic Belmont Chapel. The total cost of the restoration is expected to be approximately $2.5 million. The Foundation launched a Capital Campaign to fully fund this expense. The Foundation received major grant awards from the Alletta McBean Charitable Trust, Preserve RI/1772, van Beuren Charitable Trust, and the Champlin Foundation to fund Phases I and II of the project and to add to an the endowment fund to ensure ongoing maintenance.

Donate to the Capital Campaign to help us to return the chapel to its original beauty.
